As a medical student, I knew the surgical field was where I wanted to be, and then with our surgical rotations in clinicals, the plastic surgery seemed to be a good fit for me because of seeing the patients and how happy they were after their cosmetic surgery. So that immediate gratification was something that has really attracted me to the field, and making people feeling better about themselves and more self assured and doing that on a daily basis was really what it is all about.

My initial contact with the patient begins on consultation day. I bring the patient back to the private exam room where I review their health history in great detail. I review their allergies, their surgical history, if they are taking any medications, if they are a smoker and if so, what is their smoking history, if they have any cardiac problems, any respiratory disorders. Once I have gathered all my data, I then inquire and find out what procedure of interest the patient has. I talk to them at that point in detail about the surgical procedure of interest. I review the pros and cons and risks of surgery. Once my consultation is complete with the patient, Dr. Jon Trevisani enters the room and he will determine at that point if his patient is a candidate to proceed with surgery. Once the consultation is complete, I will give a tour of the recovery room and the surgical facility just to ease anxieties of patients. Once that is complete, the patient then meets with our financial coordinator, and once the patient actually schedules surgery and picks out a date for surgery that is when I get involved and make sure that they are cleared to proceed with surgery as far as their health is concerned. I will review their EKG, their labs, a clearance note from their doctor to make sure that they are medically cleared to proceed with surgery, their mammogram. If I need to get a hold of their doctors, I will go ahead and do so. Once I know that they are complete with their records and they are able to proceed with surgery, I let the patients know that they are able to go ahead and proceed with surgery.

Actually you got the ball rolling with genetics and that is actually why I came here originally because I had children and after my children, I needed to get back where I was before and I got a breast augmentation and it has put me back to where I was before and made me feel comfortable about myself again.
