During this simple procedure, a sclerosing solution is injected into the problem vein with a tiny needle. The sclerosing solution irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to swell. Over time, the veins will collapse and disappear. No sedation or anesthesia is required during sclerotherapy, and a typical treatment lasts from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on how many areas you are having treated.
